The best game of Big Bash ever

A look back over arguably the best game in Big Bash history, a 2015/2016 New Year’s thriller at Adelaide Oval. – Guys, newsflash, there was a pretty epic game of Big Bash cricket on at Adelaide Oval last night. Say what? Yes, cricket and epic can go in the same sentence together.  There’s no better word to describe the Adelaide Strikers thrilling win over the Sydney Sixers as Travis Head knocked six after six to snatch victory for the home side. The batsman smashed a stunning 56 runs from his last 15 balls and produced one of the most memorable…

The men of BBL: Meet Nic Maddinson

I caught up with cricketer Nic Maddison ahead of the 2015/2016 Big Bash League. – They don’t get more stylish in the Big Bash League than Nic Maddinson. The Sydney Sixer is not only known for smashing runs on the field but also off it for his suave sense of style. I’m not sure I’ve seen a 26-year-old carry off a cane (bottom left photo) as well as Maddinson aside from AFL Brownlow medalist Nat Fyfe, but let’s be frank that’s some good company. So what makes this talented cricketer tick off the pitch? I caught up with the top-order batsman…

WBBL player profile: Danni Wyatt

It’s not hard to see why Danni Wyatt has a soft spot for the home of her WBBL team, the Melbourne Renegades. Hailing from Stoke-on-Trent in England the 27-year-old has previously spent some summers Down Under playing for Victoria’s elite women’s cricket team, before joining the WBBL last year in its inaugural season. From runs along the Yarra, savouring brunch with a coffee, beach walks and a spot of shopping Danni has definitely got the whole Melbourne thing down-pat. I caught up with Danni ahead of the 2016 Women’s Big Bash League. A quick single with Danni Wyatt Nickname: Waggy Best thing…

WBBL player profile: Nat Sciver

Nat Sciver made her return to the WBBL for the 2016 season, after a successful stint with the Melbourne Stars the previous summer. The all-rounder not only laid claim to the title of the Stars’ equal leading wicket-taker then, with 18 alongside Morna Nielsen, but also completed her campaign with 154 runs. Away from the pitch Nat’s passion for food shines through with the England representative naming starters, mains AND desserts as her top three favourite foods. I can’t fault that! I caught up with Nat ahead of the 2016 Women’s Big Bash League. A quick single with Nat Sciver Nickname: Sciv Favourite…

Alyssa Healy: Moving for Movember

I caught with Australian cricketer Alyssa Healy after she was announced as a Movember ambassador in 2016.  – Alyssa Healy can do a lot of skilful things as wicketkeeper for the Australian women’s cricket team but growing a moustache is, naturally, beyond her capabilities. To overcome this hairy hurdle during the month of Movember the 26-year-old is embarking on a Move Challenge to raise funds for men’s health. The Move Challenge encourages men and women to get active in November as an alternative to growing a mo’. Cricket Australia has forged a longstanding partnership with The Movember Foundation. CA has raised almost…
