Working in footy means full weekends off come seldom to me, especially after the addition of the AFL Women’s Competition to my calendar. What should’ve felt like round six of the regular season last weekend seemed more like we’d already reached the halfway mark. But with a rare two-day break up my sleeve, I jumped at the opportunity to enjoy a little staycation at The Sebel Docklands.
Our home away from home proved to be the perfect spot for some rest and relaxation. Jason and I started our stay with an evening swim in the resident lap pool and a soak in the spa. We then took in a stunning waterfront sunset over a glass of champagne from our balcony before heading out for a meal at Cargo restaurant nearby.
For someone who actually works in Melbourne’s Docklands I am largely unfamiliar with its weekend appeal so was excited to explore the area at such a vibrant time.
Since there was a game of footy on at Etihad Stadium, literally across the road, we couldn’t help but wander over to the game despite neither of our teams playing. But it was through this experience we came to see the complete convenience of The Sebel Docklands in such close proximity to the game. We were back in our room in time to put our feet up and watch the post-match pressers on TV.
After a blissful night’s sleep our Sunday started with a luxurious 30-minute massage at Laurel Beauty & Spa. I was more than feeling rejuvenated once our overnight stay came to an end. Fully refreshed and ready to dive into the rest of the AFL season.
