Allow me to introduce you to Colorescience, a line of cosmetics that’s all about a better kind of beauty. The clever ladies at Clinica Lase recommended I give their products a go after my skin broke out following a stint of slathering my skin in NARS Sheer Glow Foundation.
Basically, cakey and heavy makeups are not what you want to be putting on your skin day in and day out, especially if you’re more on the sensitive side of the scale. Your pores have gotta to breeeeath!
So with the guidance of my complexion fairy godmothers I set my face free with the help of healthy makeup.
How I build my base with Colorescience
PRIME TIME: Following my skincare routine I start by putting half a pump of the Colorescience Skin Calming Face Primer on the back of my hand. I then use a small foundation brush to buff the product evenly across my face and neck. I find using a brush gets the best results for a smooth finish rather than working it in with my fingers.
THE MAIN SHOW: Next I dab my kabuki brush in the Colorescience Pressed Mineral Foundation Compact (in ‘light as a feather’) and press the product into my face starting at my chin, working my way up to my forehead and finishing by blending into my neck. Girl, it’s ESSENTIAL you remember your neck because no one wants to go out looking like a cake face with that dreaded makeup line along your jaw. That is BAD news.
AFTER PARTY: Once I’ve got my base down pat, which I should also mention is easily build-able for a lighter or fuller coverage, I turn my attention to the Colorescience Mineral Corrector Palette. This genius creation can hide a magnitude of sins including blemishes, pigmentation and dark circles. I dab the brush in the corresponding colour that I need and gently apply to any area of concern. For example I have this useless blotch of pigmentation under my left eye and the middle swatch magically makes it disappear.

Nowadays I’m more inclined to catch myself in a cheeky reflection check and be pleasantly surprised with how my face is sitting for the day rather than want to run and hide. I used to be one hell of a grease ball while using liquid foundations and much prefer the matte finish with a subtle glow from the powdered formula which feels invisible on my skin. I’m only attending to a little shine on my nose once a day and have full peace of mind everything is staying where I put it in the morning. Like it well damn should.
